10 Day Itinerary: Tahiti / Moorea / Huahine / Raiatea / Tahaa / Bora Bora

Day 1 Arrival Papeete. ASKARI will be moored downtown in colourful Papeete near to the local market and shops. After getting acquainted with the boat and given a safety tour of the vessel, there is time for some shopping or, if you prefer we can get underway without delay for the island of Moorea just 12 miles away.

Day 2 Moorea. Today we go to visit the Stingrays and experience a fantastic interaction with these gentle creatures, snorkelling over the nearby coral gardens or scuba dive outside the reef are the water activities planned or you can sightsee the lagoon by jet boat. Askari will be anchored in a most tranquil place so you may prefer to admire the scenery from the sundeck with a cool drink in hand.

Day 3 Moorea / Huahine. We raise anchor very early today and head out for our passage to Huahine Island some 75 miles away. The trolling lines are set as soon as the sun is up as these are good fishing grounds. We anchor in time for lunch and have a choice of activities to offer you for a relaxing afternoon at this beautiful location. There is a lovely area to drift snorkel with the current over colourful reef.

Day 4
We can spend an energetic morning snorkelling / kayaking or any other activity you choose and then dine ashore under our sun canopy and enjoy an "ASKARI" beach picnic Huahine style. There is a very interesting local museum that is worth a visit and you can learn about the ancient archaeological remains that have been uncovered in the area.

Day 5 Fare town, West Huahine. We move around the Island to visit the quaint village of Fare, there are good dive sites nearby for enthusiastic divers and a great surf break for surfers. We can see all the Leeward islands from this anchorage, even the peaks of Bora Bora are sometimes visible some 50 miles away.

Day 6 Raiatea. Underway again for another island, this time to Raiatea for a river tour. We anchor in a deep bay surrounded by lush mountains and venture up the only navigable river in all of French Polynesia. There are no rapids; it is a very tranquil way to explore either by kayak or tender. Tropical flowers line the river banks and it is a lovely calm anchorage for Askari.

Day 7 To Tahaa Island. A 10 mile trip inside the protection of the reef to a motu anchorage out near the reef edge. This is a great opportunity to see the beautiful "vanilla" island of Tahaa. A local guide can take you to a safari island tour and will show you many interesting sides of Tahaa including the process of pearl cultivation at a pearl farm.

Day 8 To Bora Bora. Another fishing opportunity, Our cruise will take us through the sheltered lagoon waters of Tahaa and out the western pass towards Bora Bora. This remarkable island is a memorable sight as we approach from the ocean. We have several anchorages in different areas of Bora Bora lagoon. Diving is very good here outside the pass and there are also good areas for snorkelling in the shallows. Vaitape town is interesting and boast many good restaurants and boutiques.

Day 9. Today you can go on Safari around the island either by bicycle or safari jeep, many spectacular viewpoints allow you to see the exquisite lagoon and spectacular mountains from different angles. More time for diving if desired or relaxing onboard admiring the view.

Day 10 Departure from Bora Bora. Askari will move to the airport anchorage which is conveniently located, in fact the check in counter is just a few steps from the dock.
