14 Day Itinerary: Fakarava / Rangiroa

Day 1. Arrival in Fakarava. Askari will be anchored by a beautiful beach, you will be welcomed onboard with a glass of champagne and given a safety tour of the vessel. Famous Garuae pass is just minutes away by tender and the site for our first dive.

Day 2. Today we dive "the corner" and also have the opportunity to visit a pearl farm where you can choose your oyster shell and discover your own pearl from within. The cultivation of Tahitian black pearl is a big industry in the Tuamotu and a fascinating process. We cruise south towards Fakarava Sud in the afternoon and anchor by sunset off a deserted beach.

Day 3. Fakarava Sud. One of our personal favourites this anchorage at the southern end of Fakarava lagoon features "pink sand" motus (tiny islands) and a fabulous pass for diving.

Day 4. Beach picnic day! We dive and relax today with many different watersport activities available. Kitesurfing lessons, laser sailing, water skiing, beach volleyball..and a picnic onshore under our own shade canopy on a deserted motu!

Day 5. Early departure to Tahanea Atoll some 50 miles distance. A great chance to set the trolling lines and catch our lunch. We anchor by Teavatapu pass and enjoy some fantastic dives at this area. Tahanea is an uninhabited atoll and we often see dolphin here during our dives.

Day 6. Exploring Tahanea. We have found a magical group of sandy motu inside the lagoon where we love to spend the day exploring. For nature lovers this is a special area as many birds nest here and you can see baby chicks in all stages of development as you explore the motus. We depart after dinner for an overnight passage to Toau, 85 miles away to the NW.

Day 7.
Toau Atoll. Diving in Toau is wonderful whether you are drifting in the pass or diving "the corner" Lots of wildlife and beautiful clear water make this a great dive and always a memorable stop.

Day 8. To Apataki Atoll. We depart at daybreak for Apataki, 55 miles up the Tuamotu chain and arrive at Tehere Pass around lunchtime. Great fishing on this passage should see some excitement on the aft deck! Another exquisite anchorage and excellent dive location.

Day 9. Apataki. Diving and water sports are today's activities and we depart after dinner for Rangiroa atoll 75 miles away.

Day 10. Rangiroa. Perhaps the most well known of the Tuamotu dive areas Tiputa pass certainly deserves its reputation as a world class site. Lots of wildlife and wonderful encounters with dolphin, sharks, turtles, mantas and more make this a very special place.

Day 11. Diving, snorkelling, kiting, fishing, shopping, bicycling, dance shows...its all available at Rangiroa!

Day 12. To Rangi Pink Sands and Otepipi. A cruise within Rangiroa lagoon is interesting to visit remote and beautiful motu of soft, fine, very PINK sands. Set amongst turquoise lagoon waters this is a lovely area indeed.

Day 13. Avatoru Anchorage, our last diving day is a shark day with Silvertip sharks featuring, wonderful and exciting this is a great wind-up site for your Tuamotu holiday.

Day 14.
Departure day comes too soon! We fill in your last day with water sports or simply relaxing onboard. Rangiroa airport is accessible by tender, the runway is just metres from the dock! We wish you a bon voyage and hope to see you again soon.


10 Day Itinerary: Tahiti / Moorea / Huahine / Raiatea / Tahaa / Bora Bora

Day 1 Arrival Papeete. ASKARI will be moored downtown in colourful Papeete near to the local market and shops. You will be welcomed aboard with a glass of champagne and given a safety tour of the vessel. There is time for shopping or, if you prefer we can get underway without delay for the island of Moorea just 12 miles away.

Day 2 Moorea. Today we go to visit the Stingrays and experience a fantastic interaction with these gentle creatures, snorkelling over the nearby coral gardens or scuba dive outside the reef are the water activities planned or you can sightsee the lagoon by jet boat. Askari will be anchored in a most tranquil place so you may prefer to admire the scenery from a hammock on the sundeck with a cool drink in hand.

Day 3 Moore/ Huahine. We raise anchor very early today and head out for our passage to Huahine Island some 75 miles away. The trolling lines are set as soon as the sun is up as these are good fishing grounds. We anchor in time for lunch and have a choice of activities to offer you for a relaxing afternoon at this beautiful location. There is a lovely area to drift snorkel with the current over colourful reef.

Day 4
Beach picnic day! We can spend an energetic morning snorkelling / kayaking/ sailing/ kite surfing or any other activity you choose and then dine ashore under our sun canopy and enjoy an "ASKARI" beach picnic Huahine style! There is a very interesting local museum that is worth a visit and you can learn about the ancient archaeological remains that have been uncovered in the area.

Day 5 Fare town, West Huahine. We move around the Island to visit the quaint village of Fare, there are good dive sites nearby for enthusiastic divers and a great surf break for surfers. We can see all the Leeward islands from this anchorage, even the peaks of Bora Bora are sometimes visible some 50 miles away.

Day 6 Raiatea. Underway again for another island, this time to Raiatea for a river tour. We anchor in a deep bay surrounded by lush mountains and venture up the only navigable river in all of French Polynesia. There are no rapids; it is a very tranquil way to explore either by kayak or Jet boat. Tropical flowers line the river banks and it is a lovely calm anchorage for Askari.

Day 7 To Tahaa Island. A 10 mile trip inside the protection of the reef to a motu anchorage out near the reef edge. This is a great opportunity to see the beautiful "vanilla" island of Tahaa. Our local friend and guide has a safari vehicle and will show you many interesting sides of Tahaa including the process of pearl cultivation at his family pearl farm. The snorkelling is very good here and you have the chance to dine ashore in the evening at "La Pirogue" restaurant if you desire.

Day 8 To Bora Bora. Another fishing opportunity! Our cruise will take us through the sheltered lagoon waters of Tahaa and out the western pass towards Bora Bora. This remarkable island is a memorable sight as we approach from the ocean. We have several anchorages in different areas of Bora Bora lagoon. Diving is very good here outside the pass and there are also good areas for snorkelling in the shallows. Vaitape town is interesting and boast many good restaurants and boutiques.

Day 9. Today you can go on Safari around the island either by bicycle or safari jeep, many spectacular viewpoints allow you to see the exquisite lagoon and spectacular mountains from different angles. More time for diving if desired or relaxing onboard admiring the view. A dance show at one of the luxurious resorts might provide a good evenings entertainment.

Day 10 Departure from Bora Bora. Askari will move to the airport anchorage which is conveniently located, in fact the check in counter is just a few steps from the dock!
